A building survey is a detailed investigation into the construction and condition of the property, produced in a comprehensive report according to the style of the surveyor. The extent of the survey will be subject to dicussion and agreement between the surveyor and client.Defects are analysed and guidance will be given on remedial work and maintenance.

The construction of a property may be a determining factor in choosing a building survey. We are experienced in virtually all construction types from timber frame, prefabricated concrete to the more conventional brick and rubble (stone) constructed properties.

A more traditionally built property in reasonable condition built after 1890 and not being listed or having any peculiarities would be more suited to a HOMEBUYER REPORT. Should you decide to instruct a building survey in this category then although acceptable, it is unlikely that you would be obtaining a report offering good value for money. This is because many features of a modern conventional building will be inaccessible (for example sub floor areas where many older buildings have cellars). As a result the surveyors inspection would be somewhat limited. Off course there will be exceptions.
